With Marjorie Blackwood and Peter Schelling…

Currently living on Galiano Island and operating West Coast Tennis School, former WTA Tour player Marjorie Blackwood and husband/coach Peter Schelling acted as Tennis Director/Managers of Whistler Racquet Club from 1994-2010. During that time, their Whistler Adult Camps reached a Top 25 Camp rating on www.tennisresortsonline.com for 12 years running. Marj and Pete have improved campers strokes & tactics on court, and entertained many at the Friday night camp dinners since 1994.

Camp Description:

Our Motto: “PLAY HARD, HAVE FUN, LOVE WHAT YOU DO!”

Solidify your game with Art of Doubles Camps! Know your job in all four court positions: Server, Server’s Partner, Returner and Returner’s Partner. We practice, drill and develop the important patterns and targets which all doubles players need to follow. Emphasis is on teamwork and communication, pressuring the opposing team by coming to net on your terms.

On Court Cirriculum

Friday Transition to net, timing your split step, volley targets and technique.
Moving as a team in unison, reading, calling and covering lobs. Footwork
Saturday Drills and Tactics for the Serving Team.
Planning and communication are crucial to success as a doubles team, and make the game more enjoyable. If you don’t have a plan, you are simply reacting to whatever the other team does! Who covers the middle?Afternoon Round Robin tennis to practice your moves after morning camp session  
Sunday Drills and Tactics for the Returning Team. Learning to read and make a plan to break your opponent’s serving game. Cross court returns off 1st serve, return variations to keep your opponents off balance, the wicked lob, how and when to use it! 

Each camp includes:

  • Camper gift bag
  • Friday Night Dinner, Sunday Lunch
  • Saturday Round Robin run by WRC

Custom Camps:
